Natalia, born in 1978 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a Russian Orthodox family, received her formal fine arts education in the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredon and the UMSA University, especializing in sculpture, and theatre makeup in the Colon Theatre. But it was through her interest in her Russian heritage that she started to study Bizantine iconography in 2003, eventually opening in 2008 her own iconography workshop, "Taller Santa Sofia".
Living in a world where art is in a constant hectic search for originality and avant-gard, searching for new aesthethic experiences every day, Orthodox iconography echos in me a deep comforting spiritual stability, seeking simbolic meaning in its art. Icons are the windows into a sacred world.
